Hello Crafty Friends! Welcome!
Thanks for jumping over here from Jenna Jachna. I have a card for you today using the Die of the Month for March and its toooooo cute. Also, be sure to see below the details on the GIVEAWAY from Spellbinders!
Here is a list of supplies that I used on my card…
- Dies
- Pretties
- Card Stock
- Coloring
- Ohuhu Markers
- SSS Original Ink Pad – Winter Sky
- Basic Tools
I started off by cutting all my pieces out. I started with the rabbit and cut all his shapes out of Neenah 80 lb Classic Crest Solar White cardstock. I thought this would be easier to just color the pieces instead of trying to cut out all the pieces from separate cardstock colors. I then cut the balloon shapes out of SSS – Thick Acetate. I knew that the balloons wouldn’t look perfect with this technique as the coloring wouldn’t look uniform, but I wanted to try it out anyway!
Once I had all the shapes cut, I tried to find the back of the balloons and began coloring them with three different colors of Alcohol markers. I took my time and tried to get an even coat all the way across. I let them dry in between but began building the color up with 3-4 layers. I was really happy with the way they came out.
When I had them done, I set them aside and colored and assembled the bunny. Once assembled, I grabbed a piece of SSS MEGA THICK WHITE CARDSTOCK 130 LB Base Weight and a blending brush and began blending on a soft sky using the SSS Original Ink Pad – Winter Sky, making sure to keep it darker at the top.
Once done, the final step was cutting out the balloon strings from vellum. I began assembling the card, making sure to use very little glue on the balloons so that it wouldn’t show.
I love how the balloons look like they are layered just like they would in person.

Jessica, using colored acetate for the balloons was genius! They give an even more “floating” feeling to the bunny! Your shading of the “sky” is just perfect for the background! Thank you for sharing your card and creativity!!! -Donna
