I just love fall! This months kit was so inspiring for the season. I was very inspired by Amy from Prairie Paper and Ink when she used the nuvo shimmer powders on a recent holiday card. They are stunning! (Click here for her blog post!). After not having the best luck with them, I followed her video as well as her advice on just letting them be to dry. So I pulled out my Tim Holtz watercolor paper and went to town creating two sheets of shimmers.

I started by selecting three colors of Nuvo shimmer powders . Once I had all three colors chosen,Solar Flare, Catherine Wheel, and Falling Leaves, I grabbed two sheets of Tim Holtz water color paper. I wanted to test which way the colors reacted better. One sheet where I place the shimmers down first then add water, and the second way where I add water and then spritz. I softly tapped the bottom of each bottle with my nail to help expel the littlest amount of product (because a little goes a long way!). Each method had similar results and I couldn’t tell the difference between the two. However, I enjoyed adding the powders first, then spritzing with water.

After I left them to dry, I returned and used the trees from the stamp set and arranged them so that the leaves of the trees had the best color. I then cut them out.

I grabbed matching colors in distress oxide ink and splattered the kraft Gina K cardstock along the bottom to represent leaves that had already fallen. I used Candied apple, Mowed Lawn and Fossilized Amber.

I glued them all and added some jewels and tada! Fall on a card. There are still some Simon Says Stamp October Card kits. You can find them here!
