Spellbinders – Small Die of the Month

Hi Crafty friends! I am back again with another Spellbinders card using the Small Die of the Month! When I originally saw this slimline circle border die I instantly thought about peppermint! So, I pulled up my boots and dived into using embroidery floss to stitch onto the die to make peppermint. I’ll be honest, stitching on cards is not my favorite technique to do. However, I always enjoy the final product when I am done!

Here is a list of supplies I used on this card…

I started with embossing a piece of Neenah Solar White 80 lb Card stock using the Spellbinders – Plaid Company Embossing Folder. When I was done, I trimmed 1/8 of an inch off of it and set it aside. I then used the circle boarder die and the matching cutting side dies and ran it through my Gemini using Neenah Solar White 80 lb Card stock.

I grabbed some embroidery floss and split it in half only using 3 strings. You could have used all 6 but I thought I was only going to do a single pass, and ended up doubling the strips to give them some more oomph. I went to work stitching the peppermints, doubling the inner stiches by going through twice, and then only doing a single pass for the outer edge. This took a little time. I believe about 20-30 minutes to complete this section. I kept my string on the shorter side because its more manageable. I did them with enough sting for a section of three circles.

Once I was all stitched up, I started assembling the card. I glued the embossed panel onto a card base using my Gina K. Connect Glue. I then used my Simon Says Stamp – Big Momma Foam Tape to pop up the peppermints. I followed with a Simon Says Stamp – CZ Design SENTIMENT STRIPS REVERSE CHRISTMAS that I foiled silver using Therm O Web Silver Deco Foil!
