Hello crafy friends! Its the most WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR! Yes, its DIEcember!
I was so excited to be sent a die to play with called BIRTHDAY CANDLES. I love the diversity of this die. So much so I made three different cards that are all similar, but slightly different (that all be sharing soon).
Below is a basic supply list for this card…
- Simon Says Stamp – Birthday Candles Die
- Simon Says Stamp Mega Thick 130 lb Card stock
- Simon Says Stamp – Blending Brushes
- Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Saturated Ink – Cheeky
- Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Saturated Ink – Lemonade
- Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Saturated Ink – Seafoam
- Simon Says Stamp – Big Momma foam Tape
- Tim Holtz Idea-ology SENTIMENTS Label Stickers
- Gina K Connect Glue
- Neenah Solar White 80 lb Card stock
- Neenah Classic Crest 110 lb card stock – card base
I started by grabbing my favorite blending paper, Simon Says Stamp Mega Thick 130 lb Card stock, my Blending Brushes, and my new favorite blending inks, Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Saturated Ink – Cheeky, Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Saturated Ink – Lemonade and Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Saturated Ink – Seafoam. I LOVE THESE INKS. They blend beautifully. These are the lighter colors in the trio hues and they make the most beautiful soft rainbow when blended together. I took the die and drew a very light circle of the die to give me an idea of where to focus the blend. I wanted to be sure that I had the full rainbow in the die. I very slowly and carefully blended them together.
When I was done, I lined up the die and sent it through my die cutting machine. I was careful when I removed it, because I wanted to keep the negative pieces to create this beauty. I carefully punched the paper from the die and saved all the pieces in a small tray. I then cut the same die out of just white paper so I could create the white circle part around the candles. I also used the white positive as a guide to glue the pieces back together.
It was a little timely to put all the correct pieces back into place. A few pieces are the same size and shape, so it took a little time but I got it done. I used my Gina K Connect Glue to glue the blended pieces down.
When I had everything glued, I added the white halo around the candles to help keep that clean and simple feel.
I kept the sentiment really simple just using a sticker from the Tim Holtz Idea-ology SENTIMENTS Label Stickers, and popped the panel up onto a card base using my Simon Says Stamp – Big Momma foam Tape. I love the simplicity of this card but yet it makes such a wonderful fun statement!
