Hello Crafty Friends! I am bringing to you today a card I made using the Kit of the Month (KOM) from Spellbinders! I love these kits because you can make some beautiful cards in a matter of minutes.
Here is a list of supplies I used on this card…
- Spellbinders – Kit of the Month July
- Therm O Web Gina K Designs IRIDESCENT Glitz Glitter Gel
- Gina K Connect Glue
- Simon Says Stamp Stencil LARGE CHEVRON PATTERN
- Simon Says Stamp Dot Tape Runner
- Painters Tape
- Ranger Princess Embossing Powder
- Neenah Solar White 80 lb Card Stock
- Neenah Solar White 110 lb Card Stock – card base
I started by cutting a A2 panel out of Neenah Solar White 80 lb Card Stock and taping my stencil to it from behind using Painters Tape. I like to use this kind of tape because its tacky enough to hold your stencil, but not enough to tear the paper if you remove slowly. I grabbed my Therm O Web Gina K Designs IRIDESCENT Glitz Glitter Gel and did a distressed application of it starting in the upper left corner and finishing in the bottom right. When I was done, I washed my stencil right away and all the tools I used to apply the GLITZ. Its important to get it off so it doesn’t stick to your stencil. After I removed the stencil, I wanted a bit more oomph, so I grabbed my Ranger Princess Embossing Powder and lightly dusted it over the Glitz while it was still wet. This was a learning process for me, as I wasn’t sure how it was going to react when I heat set it.
The embossing powder actually reacted to the heat, bubbling in some places at the glitz dried underneath. It was a really beautiful reaction and I am super happy with how it turned out! It also dried the glitz in record time, allowing me to finish the card right away!
I used some die cuts from the Spellbinders – Kit of the Month July and my Gina K Connect Glue to adhered them and this finished the card!
