Hello! I am here today with a Christmas in July card. I had so much fun creating this card. When Spellbinders sent me this set to play with for this release, I instantly thought of Laura Bassen and her BEAUTIFUL Tim Holtz Distress Ink Bottle Brush Trees. She used Distress Ink to color them into a Christmas rainbow! So I grabbed some Distress Oxide Inks, some blending brushes and went to town!
I used the following supplies when making this card
- Tis the Season – Bottle Brush Trees Etched Dies
- Tis the Season – Create a Christmas Sentiment
- Distress Oxide Ink – Picked Raspberry
- Distress Oxide Ink – Candied Apple
- Distress Oxide Ink – Ripe Persimmon
- Distress Oxide Ink – Squeezed Lemonade
- Distress Oxide Ink – Twisted Citron
- Ink on 3 – Liquid Pixie
- White Acrylic Paint
- Gold Card Stock
- Neenah Classic Crest 110 lb Cardstock
- Simon Says Stamp 130 lb Ultra Thick Cardstock
I started by blending the oxide inks on to a scrap of Simon Says Stamp 130 lb cardstock. I let it dry and then added a flickering of White Acrylic Paint and Ink on 3 – Liquid Pixie to add a little shimmer. Once it was dry, I used both the backing die and the fringed one and cut out the trees from each color. I laid them in rainbow order, adding foam tape to the back on the Distress Oxide Ink – Picked Raspberry and Distress Oxide Ink – Squeezed Lemonade. I finished the card with a “Merry Christmas” sentiment from the Tis the Season – Create a Christmas Sentiment. I love unexpected color combos for christmas!
