I am back at it with another lovely card from the Simon Says Stamp Garden Greetings Card kit! This was such an experiment turned into a happy outcome.
I started off with using my Simon Says Stamp Inks in the following colors:
This is where the experiment started. Simon Says Stamp Inks are not water soluble. Meaning, they do not play well. But I really wanted to have a loose watercolor look, and I wanted to use a more muted, boho color palette. So I thought, why not give her a try! I started by squishing Pale Blush Pink first and then spritzing it with water. Instantly, the color started to ball up and look sort of gritty. But I went a head and started picking it up with a paint brush, and then taking it to my Tim Holtz Watercolor Distress Cardstock after stamping the image in Gina K Amalgam Ink and heat setting it with Simon Says Clear Embossing Powder. The color was staying how I wanted it, so I continued on! I went through all the colors, the greens “balling” up more than the others, but it still kept the original color.
As you can see, some of the colors went a little awry when they dried back. But I still loved the texture that it created with the broken ink (it reminded me of broken colored frosting, with specks of darker spots). I finished the card off using the included Hugs Die (one of my new favorites!) which I coated in Ranger Rose Gold Embossing Powder and backed with a piece of vellum. I added some white gems to finish the card off!
