SSS – Love you, too release

I had so much fun with this Heart Garden stamp from Simon Says Stamp! I was instantly inspired and got right to creating once it was in my hands.

I started with the background die Love Is and I inked it in Slate Ink. Then, I used Distress Oxide inks in Candied Apple, Scattered Straw and Twisted Citron and blended softly over the top. I’ve been using my new favorite paper which is Simon Says Stamp 130lb! It’s incredibly thick and smooth. Using the Heart Garden set, I stamped it in embossing powder making sure the background was completely dry first!) and used white embossing powder to set the ink. I really wanted to florals to stand out so I used an Acrylic paint and watered it down and filled the hearts and leaves in.

I then added some interest by splattering Black Soot Distress Oxide ink on to the background. Finished it with a Honey Bee “Friend” die cut and a Simons Reverse sentiments. What I loved about this sentiment is my bestie and I always talk about how we are going to retire together! Its like Simon knew that is our long term dream.

DIEcember Release – SSS

Its the second most wonderful time of the year for stampers! Simon Says Stamp DIEcember is live and oh so beautiful!

I played with the Paper Hugs die for this release and let me tell you. This die looks FABULOUS on patterned paper. And what an easy card to throw together when you need to send a snail mail hug to someone. Especially during this difficult time we are living in, paper hugs are more needed than ever! I made a bundle of cards to share with you today!

This paper also came from a previous SSS card kit.
KRAFT and splatter? Yesssss.
Lots of gold foil.
This blue paper called to me so much.

Be sure to check out the release and all the beautiful dies!

And be sure to tell me which card is your favorite?

Holly Jolly Release – SSS

I was so inspired (after my moment of fear!) with Tumbled Hexagon embossing folder from the Simon Says Stamp release! I ended up making quite a few cards!

This time I broke out my shimmer powders again and went to town! I used the colors Cherry Bomb, Lunar Rocket and Atlantis Burst. I think Atlantis burst is my new favorite color! Wanting to experiment some more, this time I taped one water color panel down and then left the other one up. I began shaking pigments (sparingly!) onto the card stock and then misted with water. I repeated the process until I achieved the desired look.

I found two dies, the Stylized Tulip and Laurel Leaves and cut them out of white card stock and added a couple of Simon’s reverse sentiments and viola! I LOVE how these backgrounds turned out.

Have you played with Shimmer powders? What is your favorite color?

This is the card that I did not tape down. The color is more muted and muddy.
This card I taped down. You can see the colors more individually without them running together.

Holly Jolly Release – SSS

I love a good release and Simon is known for them! When my product arrived for being apart of the design family, I was shocked at the rigidity of the envelope. I was baffled. “What sort of die did they send me”, I thought. Eager, I ripped open the package to find not a die, but an EMBOSSING FOLDER! So many emotions. Excitement. Wonder. Terror (I don’t use embossing folders often). Simon hasn’t made embossing folders previously, so I was excited to be on the maiden voyage with them. The Tumbled Hexagon folder is the one I got to play with and ended up having so much fun!

Star struck, I wasn’t sure where to start. Thankfully Jennifer McGuire recently posted a video where she gave SO many great ways to use embossing folders (can be seen here……>>>). So I took a page out of the Card Making queen’s book and dove in.

Since I was new to embossing folders and my Gemini, I wasn’t sure what sandwich combo was going to work. It took me quite a while to figure it out. I could tell the embossing folder was very thick, making me think this was going to be a 3-D embossing folder. But honestly, I think its a little thicker than that. After a few trails, I found that using the magnetic shim, then the folder, topped with a clear cutting plate worked perfectly. I cut a couple sheets of Neenah classic crest 80 lb into quarters and went to my Simon inks.

I picked many different colors of Simon Says Stamp ink to try. I started with Blue Jay ink and swiped my ink pad across the side of the folder with the most raised surface. The areas that get inked are the ones that create the valley’s when pressed. I found typically that lighter colors worked best, but I really loved the color of the Blue Jay ink. After swiping the ink, I went back through and dabbed it because I am not a fan of streaky ink and I was finding that was occurring. Then I placed a piece of paper in, created my sandwich and sent her through the Gemini.

I loved the look of running the ink across the folder and then imprinting it into the paper. I created two cards, accenting it with black card stock and jewels for a proper pop.

Missing You – Stamptember

I was lucky enough to snatch the Stamptember Release with Honeybee Stamps. I fell in love with the beautiful design right away.

I started by heat embossing the wreath on watercolor paper in gold embossing powder. I then went to town using a couple different colors of Distress Oxide inks for a inksmooshing technique. I pressed the ink pads onto my tim holts glass media mat and spritzed them with water. I then used a acetate sheet to pick up the color and transferred it to the wreath. I then used my Zig Clean Clear markers to add an extra punch to the flowers and leaves to help them pop. When I achieved the look I wanted, I let it dry and then fussy cut it out.

With using the color Antique Linen, the watercolor paper had taken on an off white hue, so I grabbed a vanilla piece of cardstock. I used gold paint to create the splatters for the background to accent with the gold embossing powder. As it was drying, I stamped the Missing You sentiment from the same set in black ink. I added foam to the back of the wreath and adhered it to the vanilla cardstock and then added a slim piece of gold cardstock to add a little more interest.

I love gold splatter, I think its my favorite next to white. Do you use splatter in your projects?

The paper from the January #sssck is so awesome! P The paper from the January #sssck is so awesome! Packed full of these lovely shades of bokeh! I loved this grey and yellow variation. I again used the included die cut to cut snow flakes out of vellum this time, making them a little more subtle. I added snowflake sequins from #stampinup for a blizzard feel and unicorn confetti glitter to the bigger vellum flakes. Then finished it with the “Missing you snow much” sentiment. @simonsaysstamp has made sure my 2021 crafting was off to a beautiful and easy start with this kit!
