October Card Kit – SSS

Back for another card using the Simon Says Stamp October card kit! I loved the diversity of this stamp set so much!

One of many things I miss during this pandemic is getting together with friends. Thankfully, I do have a few friends that are quarantining just as well as we are and can meet up, but it takes out the fun whim of getting together with girlfriends for coffee. I made this card hoping that some day I can send it out and catch up with a few people who I haven’t had the chance to see this quarantine.

I started with using the new distress oxide ink in Crackling Campfire because honestly, its got to be the most perfect fall color. I picked out a brand new stencil from my stash from Paper Rose called “Stephanie” and brushed the distress ink on to it. I also used Pixie Spray for the first time and I was presently surprised! This was a very intricate stencil and it worked wonders keeping it in place. When the ink was blended to my liking, I stamped the coffee cups from the stamp set and then colored them with my Caran d’Ache pencils. I added some gold Nuvo drops, flicked the card from the bottom to level them out and then finished!

Make Merry release – SSS card 2

What a fun set! I really enjoyed playing with Simon Says Stamps Santa Sleigh Ride Slider set again!

I started by inking the Santa up in black ink and letting it dry. Then, I got out my Caran D’ache pencils and went to town! I fussy cut this duo out to place on my ink blended background. Blended a quick background using tumbled glass distress oxide ink and then sprayed it with shimmer spray to give the feeling of snow.

Next, I cut a circle out of a top panel white cardstock and used my anti static powder bag to prep it for embossing. I used the damask background stamp since looked like swirling snow to me and embossed the panel in white. Popping it up with foam tape, I adhered it to the front of the distressed background. Then, I placed foam squares on Santa and his reindeer, popping him up as well. Added a sentiment from Gnome for the holidays and finished!

STAMPtember release card 2 – SSS

I’m sharing another card today using the damask background stamp set from the STAMPtember release. This card was so much fun to make. I used a lot of distress oxide inks and distress resist spray.

First, I layered all the warm colors of ink down.

Then, I used the distress resist spray to the background. Because the spray nozzle is plugged, I added a little puddle of the product to a piece of plastic and then used a blending dauber to dab onto the background to lock in the color.

Up next, I added the cool colors on top, covering up the ink that was not locked in by the spray. Then I repeated the process with the resist spray, locking in the new colors. When I was done, I lightly buffed the surface to remove ink from the previous resist. The I used black soot to cover all the remaining unresisted parts of the cardstock.

Sadly, I didn’t take an after picture of the black over the card stock! But I finished the card by adding the damask background and it’s a gold embossing and a shadowed thank you die!

Stamptember release card 1 – SSS

Hooray! It’s the most wonderful time of a crafters year! Simon says stamp has done it again with a beautiful STAMPTEMBER release for this month. But just wait! Collaboration sets will be released as we move into the month.

I loved playing with the new Damask background stamp! My first card is a lovely distress oxide ink blend that was inspired by the combo used by Jessica Frost-Ballas (card inspiration here). It was so beautiful I needed to try it myself!

I added a black die cut border and daisy die cut from Simon says stamp as well. I love the way the black card stock stands out on this blend.

Send Happiness Release Card 2 – SSS

I was able to make two cards for the recent Simon Says Stamp release – Send Happiness! This card I focused on the beautiful crocus stamp in the Thoughtful Flower set. I started by using Tim Holtz Distress Inks in colors Shaded Lilac and Twisted Citron by laying a light layer down on the flower to create a base to build on. Next, I used my Caran d’Ache pencils to color the crocus, added it to a Mama Elephant Scales background Die for a little interest.

Finished the card off with a Good Thoughts sentiment and some white pearls. Love how much the scaled background brings to this card with such a simple act of die cutting.
